Before Jesus Changed My Life
Growing up, I would attend a local church in my hometown with my family every week. Although my family and I went to church, I was not necessarily a follower of God. I remember being curious, but I never really asked questions. I did not understand the contents of the Bible, the whole story of Jesus, or the true meaning of Easter. When I was around ten, I stopped going to church and was no longer involved in the community. As a young adult, I have always been easily influenced. During my stage as a non-believer, I thought nothing was inherently wrong with what I was partaking in. At the time, I believed the sins I was committing were viewed as normal as that is how most of the world operates. It wasn’t until I met my significant other that I realized how important Christ is. I took the time to learn about God and all the great things He continues to do for us and the unconditional love He will always provide. My partner’s loving family continues to support and guide me through my spiritual journey. I now turn to God whenever I struggle with negative emotions or hardships I may face in my day-to-day life. I do not just come to the Lord when I am struggling, but also at any point, building my relationship with Him, by giving Him praise and gratitude. As humans, we are born sinful, and it is important to acknowledge, repent, and ask God for His forgiveness because He freely offered it to us as only He can through Jesus, who died for our sins. I turn to God when I am in need, as I can't maneuver the burdens of the world on my own. I need the power of His guidance, wisdom, and strength.
How Jesus Changed My Life
Jesus and the work of God has changed my life for the better. The power of Christ has led me to form some beautiful relationships with friends in the Christian community. As a new believer, I attend church regularly. When I am able to, I go to connection group to meet more like-minded people. I officially accepted Christ into my life earlier this year, and it was by far one of the best days of my life; I noticed a drastic change as my heart immediately felt warm, like Jesus himself was wrapping me in His embrace. It felt right in my heart to accept Him at that time in my life, and the feeling was surreal. Ephesians 2:8-10 states salvation is a gift of God’s grace that is received through faith, not from human works, which prevents people from boasting. Salvation is a gift and it leads us into the good works that God has prepared for us to do and live our lives.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
After Jesus saved me, I am now able to easily recognize when I sin, asking Him for forgiveness. My heart feels more open and I am able to forgive easily, even in the most difficult times. Without hesitation, I am now able to resist the many temptations of the world and acknowledge what is sinful and goes against God’s words. I am able to surround myself with like-minded people who follow the ways of the Lord. I could not be more grateful for the amazing community He has sent my way. Whenever I struggle or need someone who I know will always listen, I come to God. Reflecting, I have noticed a different perspective on life and how willing I am to help others.
